Country-specific tips

Germany is strict on the financial-means proof — show stable bank balances over 3 months, not last-minute deposits.
Cover letter should clearly state your main destination if your trip spans multiple Schengen countries.
Hotel bookings via Booking.com (with free cancellation) are accepted for the file.
Travel insurance must explicitly include 'medical repatriation' and cover the entire Schengen Area.

Practical tips

Trains are the best way to travel between cities — Deutsche Bahn (DB) tickets are cheaper booked early.
Many shops are closed on Sundays.
Cards are increasingly accepted but cash is still common — keep €50–€100 on you.
